The 1st Hassocks Scout group is currently made up of one Beaver colony (6-8 year olds), two Cub packs (8-11 year olds) and two Scout troops (11-14 year olds). Many of our Scouts go on to join the Mid Sussex District Explorers, as well as become young leaders themselves.
Scouting aims to appeal to a young person’s desires for fun and adventure provided through attractive and active programmes. It provides opportunities for developing in young people the qualities that make good citizens: honour, self-discipline, dependability, respect for others and self-reliance. We make the most of our location on the edge of the South Downs National Park, surrounded by the greenery of Sussex, and run as much of our programme outside as possible.
If you have a child who would like to get involved in Scouting you can sign them up to our waiting list.
Our group is supported by a dedicated team of adult and young leaders, parent helpers, an executive team and a fundraising team. We are all volunteers and we’re always to hear from people who want to join us to help.
